Privacy Policy
Effective October 22, 2026
The short version: La Mesa keeps everything on your phone. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and nothing you enter is sent to us or anyone else.
What La Mesa stores
To keep score, La Mesa saves the following, only on your device:
- Player names you type in (real names, nicknames, anything you like)
- Matches: teams, target score, winner, dates, and any note you add
- Rounds: points, who scored, and when
- Your app settings, such as appearance
We don't operate any server that receives this data, and the app has no account or sign-in. We never see your matches.
The camera and the hand scanner
La Mesa's hand scanner, where available, uses your camera to count the pips on your dominoes.
- The camera turns on only when you tap the scan button.
- Counting happens entirely on your phone. Photos are never uploaded.
- So a disputed round can be checked, La Mesa keeps a small, reduced-size copy of each scanned photo with that round. These copies stay on your device and are automatically deleted one day after the match ends, or right away when you delete the match.
- You can say no to camera access. Manual score entry always works, and you can change the permission any time in iPhone Settings → La Mesa.
What leaves your device
Nothing. La Mesa has no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking, and it does not use your location, contacts, or any device identifier. The app works fully offline and doesn't connect to the internet on its own.
The only exception is one you choose: tapping Privacy policy or Help & support in Settings opens this website, the same as visiting any web page.
Backups
If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or to your computer, your La Mesa data may be included in that backup. Backups are handled by Apple under your own account. We have no access to them.
Deleting your data
- Settings → Clear match history deletes every match and round but keeps your players.
- Settings → Factory reset deletes everything.
- Deleting the app removes all of its data from your phone.
Children
La Mesa is suitable for all ages. Because nothing is collected or sent anywhere, we don't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of La Mesa changes what it stores or sends, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
